Digital Morphing
An invaluable breeding tool
The 21st century has provided us with some amazing technology to aid us in breeding for improvement. Toyger breed creator, Judy Sugden used the PC to digitally "morph" photos of many foundation Toygers to help inspire, select and show exactly what was possible in the Toyger beed.
Most, if not all Toyger breeders currently utilize digital morphing as an invaluable tool to help us make better informed decisions in our breeding selections. Because of the extremely complex structures of the Toyger's head (a big cat head type on a domestic cat) it is easy to look passed an important element such as the muzzle for example, when a cat has large ears or large eyes that tend to bring your focus to them or creates an unbalanced illusion of the facial structure therefor "hiding" the true potential of a Toyger cat. Utilizing the digital morphing allows us to work on the photos in a manner that allows us to SEE the "what if's" and help in selecting which pairing Toygers would be the best match for a breeding.
Digital morphing is in NO WAY a tool used to decieve. It is ONLY used as a powerful tool for improving our breed by aiding us in our selection process.
The following fotos are morph collages of our own personal cats and the digital morphing combinations of various features, either removed, altered or exaggerated. The ORIGINAL foto is also included in the collage and is clearly marked.
In the above collage of RomanToygers Koolray you can see a variety of different photos showing reduced, enhanced or exaggerated facial elements. The very first in the upper left corner is the original photo. Each photo has a description of what has been changed in the photos, although it may be difficult to see the writing.
Below, we have RomanToygers Faccia. He has very large ears which draw our attention away from his incredible muzzle. In this case it was necessary to try a morph collage to really see what his strong points are to have a better judgement for finding a better suited female to enhance his features or on the opposite spectrum, to cancel out the undesireable features.
